"Stuck on Broadway": Breakfast Show crew assists ice-locked anchor

Posted Friday, January 30, 2009, at 11:42 AM

"This is the thanks I get for coming to work!" Lauren Keith said with a smile.

Her co-workers on the KFVS12 Breakfast Show, Jim Burns and Brian Alworth, went out to help get her car unstuck from the ice on Broadway.

They soon realized what a job it would be, but along came a willing motorist with a truck and a plan.

Watch the process in this video:

  • I heard Lauren talked about her car on air and it made me wonder about the parking garage there at the KFVS tower -- aren't they allowed to park there? And how many spots are in there?

  • Good question, Tommy! Lauren Keith here. Actually, the managers park in the garage, not employees. We also have station vehicles there. Funny thing though-- I was trying to make it up the hill that day, at risk of getting in trouble for taking someone's spot. I couldn't even make it up the small incline. It was so slick! I feared this would happen on Broadway....and it did. Thanks to the crew though!

  • I spent about 30 minutes trying to dig my car out of the snow and ice. I then figured that boiling water on the icy parking lot may do the trick and about six big pot fulls later the path was clear to move my little Protege from its parking spot.
