To the editor:
The election of Pope Benedict XVI should be a major wake-up call for the liberal faction of the Roman Catholic Church. In these days of "everything is OK" attitude, we get guidance from the Holy Spirit, which helped the cardinals elect a conservative pope who will keen the sacred doctrines intact despite the immoral society that wants otherwise.
Paul Harvey said the new pop wants to unite all Christians, and then he said the new pop was known as a hard-line conservative. True unity comes from following the Lord -- his will, not ours. If we follow his will and trust him, he will take care of us.
It is a fact that people do not like to be told what they are doing is wrong. They do not want to give up their fun. I was caught up in this idea several times in my life. I am happy that I have overcome my dependence on sin and am able to make the Lord No. 1 in my life -- more important than anything -- and find true happiness. This is a happiness and peace that is too hard to explain. But once you experience it, you will never go back.
