Telecom bills good for community

Thanks to the leadership and vision of state Sen. Jason Crowell and state Rep. Nathan Cooper of Cape Girardeau, the Missouri Legislature overwhelmingly approved reform telecom legislation that promotes market-based competition, encourages investment on advanced telecommunications technologies and protects consumers from excessive cell phone taxes.

The passage of Senate Bill 237 will be good for residential and business consumers who'll benefit from real competition in the marketplace. In addition, House Bill 209 simplifies the tax system for cities and protects wireless subscribers from new taxes both now and in the future. Thanks again, Senator Crowell and Representative Cooper, for passing legislation that's good for our community and our state.
