I DIDN'T vote for Clinton. I am not so sure I will not vote for him next year. Who in politics keep promises? I do believe Mr. Clinton is trying to help people and trying to keep some promises. I pray he helps the education program. I also hope he helps the children and old people at least to get needed health help. If the politicians really want to help the budget why don't they take a seven percent cut in wages and retirement?
DO NOT resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege.
I WAS just reading in Speak Out about the person who wanted Rush Limbaugh's picture on the Missouri license plate. I would rather drive behind a car anytime and look at a mule than Rush Limbaugh.
I SAW it on TV. Bob Dole changes his story. Leave it to the politicians to change their story to suit whomever they're talking to.
MY HAT is off to the Drurys and many more people of this area as vo-tech advocates. Vo-tech is not a Smith-Hughes Act to teach students to use their hands. It is to parlay industry's need and supply the academic know-how to get it done. Is this not what education is all about? I'm proud of some my students who are now Drury employees. Some are high school, some are post-high school and some are even from the big hill. The Drurys are always open to new innovation and ideas."
I WANT to speak about the person who made the charge that the Republicans went behind President Carter's back and sold arms to the Iranians. Well, let me just say this, it's too bad the Republicans didn't have some arms to give to our boys over in Somalia when they were put out by Clinton and the Democrats on the field without the proper fighting equipment.
THIS IS for the people or person who took my duck signs out in the county. I'm one of the only ones that bought and paid for them. They're not going to be hard to find. There is a reward for them. I will find you. You will be convicted. If you would return them there will be no questions asked. And you know who I'm talking about.
I WOULD just like to say that when I hear the Salvation Army bell ringers I know that Christmas is in the air. Those ringing bells bring hope to a lot of people who can't afford to give their children toys or food or anything or even a warm bed for Christmas. But when they hear those bells ringing, it just represents hope. I was at a store one day when it was real cold outside, and I saw one of the management people go outside and told them to come and stand inside the foyer to ring their bells. I really appreciated that, because when people are real cold they put their gloves on and leave their wallets in their pockets. I think all the stores when it's real cold like that should help the Salvation Army help others.
I CAN tell you quickly the difference in Bush sending troops and in Clinton sending troops. Bush sent them to save the price of oil only. Clinton is sending them to save lives and maybe keep a peace.
I WOULD like to congratulate the city of Cape Girardeau for its efforts to take over funding of the airport tower from the FAA. This is a good example of federal welfare that is going to trimmed back by the conservatives in Congress to save the economy for our children. And we have to find ways to take care of ourselves, both corporate-type welfare like this and individual welfare in our Medicare and Medicaid. Congratulations, Cape Girardeau. You are a good conservative town.
