White view of racism

SINCE the O.J. trial is over, all we will see and hear about is how it was racist. In my opinion, whites are the ones who are victims of racism. For one thing, the United Negro College Fund. Is there a white college fund? My son needs enough money to go to college just like a black person. And the Black Entertainment Channel. Is that racist? Where's the white entertainment channel? Look at the all-black colleges. I'd like to see white people have an all-white college. You would have every black person in the United States trying to sue them because they're racist. Now just think about that.

Shrinking gloves

I'M VERY glad the O.J. Simpson trial is over. I'm wondering if I'm the only person in the United States or perhaps the whole world who has ever had a pair of leather gloves that got wet and shrank so bad you couldn't put them on.

Simpson endorsements

O.J. SIMPSON is in the process of writing another book. He's already written one and made millions of dollars. He's hoping to get prepared to appear on television appearances, hoping to endorse products for the market. Should you, out of curiosity, buy one, you are promoting spousal abuse, family violence and murder. We have so little control in subduing violence, let us use what power we do have the best way we can. I urge everyone to voice an opinion in any bookstore that has any product that he has endorsed. I do not wish to have any of my family wearing a pair a tennis shoes or watching a supposed hero on television. This is very detrimental to these children. Please help America do the best we can to correct this injustice.

Library support

DAVID STROM'S comments to the Scott County Commission on Oct. 3 indicated that people outside the library district, in this case, make no financial contributions to the library. This is not strictly true since all Missouri libraries receive state aid, state grants and federal grants. These funds are taxes collected from individuals who are outside a particular library district. In this day when we have so many truly illegal acts, it is disturbing that individuals associated with libraries are more concerned about certain people as he said illegally using the library than they are concerned about supplying information to people and encouraging library usage.

Band coverage

NOT TO take anything away from Papa Aborigine, who Marc Powers referred to as Cape's top act, but perhaps if the Southeast Missourian gave the same coverage to other local bands as they have Papa Aborigine, maybe Mr. Powers and others would be more informed on the local bands, such as Diligence, that not only play cover tunes but also perform original material at other local clubs besides the Yacht Club and Broussard's.
