TO THE 80-year-old who praised Hoover and condemned Roosevelt, consider this. It was a liberal Democrat who got your Social Security check every month plus your much-needed Medicare protection. We all like to work, but who would hire a person of your age.
SO MANY hearts were touched by the story of the puppy mill and the plight of the dogs and the puppies, but anything against abortion is pornography and gives Cape a bad name. Sounds like Cape has gone to the dogs.
I'M GLAD Capt. Sides in Jackson has the guts to stand up for Jackson citizens and our struggle to keep our growing town free of the individuals who feel they must sell their wares to any Tom, Dick or Harry in flashing distance. Let's keep the anti-homosexual slant out of this and keep focused on the issue at hand. Prostitution of any kind is illegal.
I WAS totally amazed at the comments made by Mayor Spradling concerning construction of a new pro-shop at the municipal golf course. When the mayor wants to spend $200,000 on a new pro-shop, he shouldn't qualify it by saying, "It would probably be a money-making project and it could increase sales of food and merchandise." The words "probably" and "could" just don't fit here. I agree the shop should be enlarged, but a $200,000 expenditure is outrageous. If the mayor wants to invest money in the course, put it where it will be a money maker and increase sales of food and merchandise. That is, improve the course. The $200,000 will go a long way replacing the greens with bentgrass, which would permit year-around play. The temporary greens just don't cut it. They force a majority of golfers and their money out of town to play golf. Ask the people who play golf there, and I'll wager 100 percent will say improve the course first and that will pay for a new clubhouse. One more thing, the Golf Advisory Board should only have members who play at the municipal golf course.
