I'M GLAD Police Chief Hetzel is standing by his recommendation about the Peppy's Bar. I only hope the councilmen will stand behind him.
Lies continue to spew out
WE SHOULD now understand the president's uncanny talent as he continues to talk from both sides of his mouth at the same time. His lies just continue to spew out all over the place. We can only pray for the impeachment of this audacious, lying excuse for a man.
Prayer goes farther than stones
I'VE NEVER been a Clinton fan, and I didn't vote for him. I don't care for the accusations of the alleged misconduct, and I hope he is innocent. But the media's going after him like vultures on roadkill. Before you condemn, whatever your politics, look at your reflection in the mirror before you cast that stone. Your reflection might disappear. If he's guilty, he'll pay the price. Pray for the man, guilty or innocent. Prayer goes farther than stones. He is our president.
Try again on tax reform
I WENT to school with Kenny Hulshof. He's a wonderful person, and he will be a tremendous representative for us in Congress. Kenny has this idea about having exemptions on income interest. He's working in the right direction. He wants to lower taxes on people who are doing the right thing, who are saving for their retirement. He's got the right incentives. But talking about simplification of taxes is wrong because if you add another line subtracting some of the interest income, it just complicates taxes. That's the wrong idea. We don't want to complicate our taxes. What we want to do is scrap the entire system and figure out simple taxes with the right incentives. Kenny, you're a good fellow. Try it again, let's get it better.

Angels help with paper, trash can
THE ANGELS are still running on Bordeau Drive. My paper is put at the door every morning. Now my trash can too. Thanks, angels, where ever you are.
Others who fooled around had to quit
WHEN THEY found out Lt. Kelly Flynn was having an adulterous affair in the Air Force, she had to resign. Robert Packwood had to resign because of sexual scandals. Now, I wonder, will the commander-in-chief ask his people what he will do or what he won't do, or will he be not above the law? The Magna Carta said no kings or rulers are above the average person. I wonder if this will stick with him. Will he resign like Flynn or, because he's a man, get to stay and continue his job when she had to quit?
Can you trust the president?
I WANT to comment on this Zippergate deal. Remember Gennifer Flowers? She said she had an affair with Clinton. Now Clinton has testified in court that he did have affair. All the people who wanted to protect Clinton should have egg on their faces, but in reality they don't. People don't care about morality anymore. I just want to say that it proved Flowers was telling the truth. She also said that Clinton asked her to lie to the prosecutors about whether they had the affair or not. I wonder if he's doing that now. I mean, he lied once. Can you trust him again?
Let's hope nature center will be used
I'M CALLING in to reference to the proposed nature center at County Park. I would like to say to Conservation Department commissioner Wood and Mr. Jones that if it's built, I hope it's used more than the conservation shelter that was built several years ago in our city park. For a couple of years, they showed animals and fish there, which was great for the kids to see. And now all it does is collect dust and serve as a background for a big mulch pile. We're not getting any use out of it that I can see whatsoever. I would hate to see space taken up in our park with something that's not going to produce anything good for us.
Add ESPN2 to TCI channels
I CANNOT believe that TCI would offer something so stupid as the Spice Channel when we cannot even get ESPN 2. I can't believe it. I do appreciate, however, the fact that TCI is offering more channels, but please, please, TCI, throw in ESPN 2. We would really like to have it.
