THANK YOU for publishing suggestions on how to improve Riverfest. I have one myself. I think Riverfest would be improved if they could figure a way to temporarily take down the river wall and allow the streets to flood. Patrons of Riverfest could ride around in boats and pretend they were in Venice, Italy. This would give Riverfest a sophisticated European flavor, make it more appealing to the upper classes and less attractive to the teeming, often destructive masses...

Other trashy places
I'M CALLING in reference of "Junk in Oak Ridge." I was wondering if you have driven in Marble Hill or Glen Allen? It's a pretty rough sight there too. People need to do something to keep up appearances. If they want to live trashy, don't make your neighbors and town look trashy too. Clean up after yourself.
Looking for power
CLINTON IS out to prove he's not a lame duck. So he's bombing Yugoslavia. He's out for power recognition, and war is his ego-driven objective. He made a mockery of his impeachment in his press conference and thumbed his nose at the law. He's a disgrace to our nation. He said Social Security is his highest priority. Where is his concrete proposal?
Prescription for disaster
I'M PERPLEXED. David Limbaugh recently wrote a prescription for Republicans. Presumedly Limbaugh is interested in putting together a GOP coalition that can recapture the White House. However, a few columns later, he seemed to read Republican David Gergen out of the party. So much for a kinder, gentler GOP, one with an expanded base and one that is more inclusive. Limbaugh's prescription for Republicans may be a prescription for disaster.
About to set world on fire
THE UNITED States must look like a Hitler-led country to the rest of the world, bombing Yugoslavia, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan. What countries will be next? They must think the United States has gone mad. This global strategy of Clinton's and corporate greed is about to set the world on fire.

Quit taking the money
THEY SAID in order to save Social Security, they'd have to put more money in. Well, all they have to do is tell the people to quit taking it out.
When will basketball end?
I WOULD like to know when all this basketball is going to be over with so people can sit down and watch good shows on television. These basketball games seem to be replacing all the best shows. People who aren't interested in basketball couldn't care less about the Final Four. This is ridiculous to preempt all of our good programs so that a few good people can watch basketball.
They're native Americans
SOMEBODY HAS been putting together statistics about ethnic and racial minorities in the school boundaries issue. Who decides what group a student belongs to? What if the student is part Italian and part Egyptian and part Cajun? Now what ethnic group does he fit into? I don't understand that stuff. Who decides? When my kids go to school, I tell them that they're native Americans because they were born in the United States, their parents were born in the United States, their grandparents were born here. And I think all of their great-grandparents were born in the United States. They must be native Americans.
Must protect ourselves
IF WE give up our right to bear arms of any kind, we will be defenseless against criminals and an all-powerful federal government. The Constitution gives us the right to protect and defend ourselves. The land can't protect or defend itself, but we the people can and will.
Both sides playing games
ON PROPOSITION B both sides are accusing each other of lies and scare tactics. They're both playing the same game. The woman on the commercial talking about being raped in St. Louis: I understand she was raped in her own home. She could have had a gun in there anyway, so what's the big deal about carrying one? If we're good people and have a license to have a gun, we can carry it right now out in the open, where everybody can see it. They can see it and know not to mess with you.
