Drug prices
The company that sparked an angry backlash after it raised the price of a drug for treating a deadly parasitic infection by more than 5,000 percent says it will roll back some of the increase. But it is still going to raise the price. Yes, our Republican-led legislators are letting things like this happen as they are getting money from the pharmaceutical lobbyists. As long as there is money going into their pockets, they don't care about the American people in need.
Cell signals
To all cellphone users, now this device has become part of our daily dependence. Has it become a thief stealing away moments of conversation that we could have had face to face with family and friends? It's a thought to be pondered.
Jensen spot on
This is Wednesday at 9:23. I just finished reading Michael Jensen's article in the Southeast Missourian. And I just had to call Speak Out and say I agree with him so much about the misuse of all the entitlement programs. I personally know of a couple in Scott City that has five children drawing hundreds of dollars of food stamps every month and are spending the food stamps to buy drugs. And I myself have tried to call the child welfare thing, and it does no good. They're sitting there in a house with no water, no electricity, and they tell me that's not enough to constitute child abuse. And I'm just so disgusted with the whole welfare system, and especially the child welfare department, that they won't do anything.
Climate pope
Yes, I see the pope said we need to talk about global change and global climate and all that. Well, here he comes over on a 747, which is an Airbus. Then comes over here and drives around in this little car, but he's got four guys in SUVs driving around him.
Humility, ego
Today I watched the pope and President Obama on the stage. And I thought to myself, "What an irony. The humblest man in the world on the same stage with the biggest egomaniac in the world."
Scott City
What happened to the road construction in Scott City? They started out good and now no activity for two weeks. Did they run out of money?
Travel
Wow! That's pretty cool. Mr. Smith first went to Washington, then on chartered flights all over the Midwest and then on what is being described as an "exotic" trip to Brazil. And the staff got to go to Brazil as well. Awesome!
Medical records
If you are attempting to get medical records from a hospital, you had better have the longevity gene. If you are among the few who are successful, the estimated waiting period is between 112-132 years.
No Carson
The U.S. Constitution specifies that there is no religious test for the presidency. In light of his flat rejection of that sacred constitutional principle, I urge you to join with me and millions of others in urging Dr. Ben Carson to drop out of the presidential race.
Paid pizza
I want to thank the person who put a considerable sum toward my family's bill at Paglaia's Friday Sept. 18th. Our son had just graduated from basic training and AIT. We had not seen him since May 30. Your generosity put ice cream with the cake. God Bless You! Thank you!
