Roaming dogs

I WOULD like to know when the Cape Girardeau Police Department is going to do something about the roaming dogs. I have called to report them, and they're still roaming. I know we have a leash law. I just wonder if other people in the Cape Girardeau area are having trouble. If so, please call the police department.

Terminate the terrorists

WE ARE almost four years into the 21st century, and so far all of the world's terrorists seem to be Muslim. Can you name any who aren't? It's time to kill all the terrorists. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but it's time to kill all the terrorists.

Weighty prescriptions

I KEEP reading about the American eating habits, and we hear all the time on news about the cost of medication being cheaper somewhere else. But the thing that really strikes me as being a little on the ridiculous side, is that a big percentage of the people who are taking all this medication are overweight, -- some of them grossly overweight -- which is a self-induced need for a lot of that medication. If they're concerned about the cost of medication, why don't they go on a sensible diet?

Medicare quandary

I'M A 71-year-old woman. I went through three doctors at Cape Girardeau. They don't take Medicare, so what am I to do? You pay Medicare insurance, and these doctors won't take Medicare payments.

Bridge timing

I WANTED to comment on the wonderful entertainment the other day with the bridge implosion. I'm thankful it happened there instead of when there were six or eight 18-wheelers and four or five cars full of kids on that bridge. It could have happened at any time. We thank the good Lord that nobody was hurt.

Spousal familiarity

I HAVE been married to the same man for over 20 years, and I still don't know him. Just because you've been married to somebody does not mean you know that person.

Thanks for the help

TO THE husband and wife from Jackson who helped us at President Bush's rally at Poplar Bluff: You let us shake the hand that shook the hand of a president. You helped us up an incline. Thank you. I'm sorry we didn't wait while your wife located the automobile. We didn't get your names, but your help was greatly appreciated.

Participate in planning

IF YOU want more Christian bands at the City of Roses Music Festival, maybe the Christian bands should get their act together and go to a City of Roses meeting. That's the best advice I can give.

Bus system needed

WHY DON'T we spend the $1 million CVB surplus on the establishment of a bus system? Paducah has had one since the 1980s and Paducah has 10,000 fewer people than Cape Girardeau.

Buy some fans

THIS IS in regard to the person who commented about not having air conditioning at Franklin Elementary School. If you were so concerned about it, you should have bought fans for your child's class like we did. They were doing the best they could to get it fixed.
