The property on Lacey Street in Jackson is a disgrace. While showing the new elementary school to people purchasing a home here, we drove by this duplex. The entire corner is grown up in weeds reaching the deck and windows of the duplex. Surely the city can enforce the ordinances for maintaining property. Pumpkin eaters

Tom Brady might have reason to practice more intensely after a federal judge made clear Wednesday that the NFL's four-game suspension of the New England Patriots quarterback over "Deflategate" is in jeopardy. Environment, economy

How stupid are climate change deniers? They don't want anything done as they say it will raise the cost too much and cut into their dividends that they are getting from the polluting companies. However, they are too stupid to see the American people are paying for it every day and more every day nothing gets done about it. All our insurances are going up every day to cover the homes that have burned, destroyed by floods, tornadoes as well as all the vehicles. Also, the rise in health insurance to cover the illness from these disasters is also coming out of the American people's pocketbook now. Only to protect the pocketbooks of the 1 percent. Yes, the American hardworking middle class and poor are paying the price now.

Entitlement trophy

Rich Lowry's editorial titled "No trophy for you, son" should be required reading for every parent, coach and sponsor of Little League teams. Quoting Lowry: "The trophy has gone from exceptional reward for excellence, to nice gesture, to practically an entitlement." We have raised a couple of generations of kids to expect rewards from most anything, because that was how to boost their self esteem. Wrong. Now we have many kids who don't feel they should work for anything. Just ask a teacher. It is tough.
