Offensive message

TO EVERYONE with a cell phone: Please remember that your friends aren't the only ones calling your phone and leaving voice messages. There have been countless times I've called potential applicants for a job and was greeted with an offensive song or offensive language when their voice-mail greeting picked up.

Libby factoid

THE LOCAL and national media have missed the most interesting aspect of the Scooter Libby case. Libby was the attorney for Mark Rich, the lowlife pardoned by President Clinton. Mark Rich is a major contributor to Libby's defense fund.

Tame by comparison

I WAS rather amused when Hillary Clinton criticized the Bush administration over the commutation of Scooter Libby's prison sentence. This is like the pot calling the kettle black. Someone needs to remind Clinton of her husband's pardoning of former congressman Mel Reynolds, who was convicted of having sex with minors. Anything Libby might have done is a Sunday-school picnic compared to what Reynolds did.

Unequal justice

I VOTED for President Bush but am so disappointed that he has commuted the prison sentence of Scooter Libby. I think it's a disgrace. Anyone in this country who thinks our justice system is equal for all is sadly mistaken. Our politicians need to clean house.

Bottle rockets

IMAGINE MY surprise when I come back from being out of town over the Fourth of July to find bottle rockets in my yard. I live in Cape Girardeau. I picked up 100 used bottle rockets. If you're going to shoot them off, at least clean up your mess.
