I just read the Speak Out comment saying that the university graduations are really pretty good, because they're old-fashioned values. Ceremony time

I just read the Speak Out comment saying that the university graduations are really pretty good, because they're old-fashioned values. But I don't care what culture you're from, if you sit somewhere about three hours, you have an overwhelming urge to find a restroom facility. And that ought to be taken into account when planning your ceremony.

Obesity causes

It's no wonder many Americans are so obese. If we need something from a store that's 2 blocks away, we get in the car and drive, not walk. If our yard is full of leaves, we get the leaf blower instead of raking. If we approach a building and it has a button to press for the handicapped to open the door, we use that although we are NOT handicapped. Heaven forbid we use any calories to do a little work.

Right-to-work

I'm sick of this right-to-work nonsense. The continuing decline of the middle class correlates directly with the decline in the labor union movement.

Welcome George

A big Speak Out welcome to George Pataki for entering the ever-growing list of viable candidates for the Republican presidential nomination. This, even though you may be saying to yourself, "George who?"

FIFA

Kudos to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch for taking on the powerful and obscenely corrupt FIFA, the criminal governing body of international soccer.

Poor me

I would imagine that you will be getting a lot of feedback on the letter from the person talking $250,000 a year was poor, poor, poor me. I think most of us would agree that is totally absurd. That amount of money is five times what we make. We manage to keep a household together, do all the things that person describes. As a matter of fact, the place that I work, that amount of money would be what four of us make in the office. So, I think that person needs to reconsider what they said. It's totally absurd.

Rich indeed

Hey, to the person who thinks $250,000 a year ain't rich, try to make it on $12,000 or $15,000 like these Social Security people. It sure would seem rich to me. You're one of the reasons this country is screwed up.

Parked car

This is in regard to the little white vehicle parked down the bottom of Whitener Street by the mailboxes. It's been sitting there in the same place for about two or three weeks. Never moved. The mailman has to come drive around it, back up to the boxes, or get out (of the vehicle) to put the mail in, which I don't think they should have to do. I think it's time somebody does something. If the people aren't going to drive the car, move it somewhere else.
