Mike Jensen's assertion that the ever-growing gap between rich and poor is of no consequence and that money in the hands of the poor wouldn't help them escape poverty is Mike Jensen at his best or, depending on your point of view, absolute worst.
I don't understand the negativity concerning the new roundabout. The present street layout and proximity to Kingshighway isn't ideal, but not much can be done about that at this point. It is nearly impossible to make left turns in so many locations; therefore, a roundabout seems to be the most logical solution. Accidents are not caused by roundabouts, but by the refusal of drivers to learn how to drive in one! First, slow down. Then, when in the roundabout, don't treat it as a four-way stop. You might think it is courteous to stop and let others ahead of you, but all that does is cause confusion and keeps the intersection from functioning effectively. Give it a chance. I think most of us are smart enough to figure it out.
I've been married to my husband for almost 40 years. I heard very little about his involvement in the Vietnam War until lately. It's been starting to come back really bad lately. He's had some episodes of PTSD that have been frightening. I was told by his doctor to get him in the VA. They prescribed some medicine and recommended therapy, just someone for him to talk to. I was told they were full. What are you supposed to do when you really need help from your government and they can't help you? I think everyone should be made aware of how hard it is for our men and women who have served in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan and other places. Maybe it takes years for things to happen, but he needs help. Thank you.
This is in regard to the caller in Speak Out about gay couples. One of the things they mentioned is procreation and passing on their homosexual genes to the next creation. For one thing, they can't naturally procreate. Heterosexual couples are the ones who have homosexual children who pass on the homosexual genes to their children.
If you have a 40 hour a week job, I hear starting next year, when the affordable health care act goes into effect, you'll see your hours cut or even get laid off because companies can't afford to pay for your health insurance.
