Our daughter had a flat tire on the interstate. Being several miles away before I could get there to help her, a Missouri state trooper stopped and changed her tire. Being too low on air pressure to drive on, he called another trooper who had an air pump and they aired up the tire and sent her on her way. That is way beyond their duty, and we are very thankful for their help.
If the schools give one computer to each student, you know 10 percent of the students will break or lose their computers. Then the school will be forced to give those students a second or third computer because we do not want those students to be disadvantaged. Some students are not going to take care of anything they did not invest their own time and money to buy. They may forget to bring their computer or to charge it up the night before. Some of these students forget to bring paper and a pencil to class. It is likely to be an expensive experiment.
That was a nice article about the adoption of personal, portable computers for every CHS student. However, nothing of any substance was reported about what the classroom teachers think of the idea. It would seem appropriate to have read some comments by the community teachers association president. Surely the teachers have an opinion on this giant technological step into the future.
