Changing position

Donald Trump was recently able to unite pro-choice and pro-life groups on the issue of abortion when he said that women who get presumably banned abortions should be punished. That had the effect of uniting both groups in universal condemnation of the Trumpster to the point that he had to later do what had heretofore been unthinkable when it comes to The Donald -- change his position.

ISIS attacks

ISIS is dangerous and can strike fear and terror in people around the world. It takes only a few committed people to carry out a deadly terrorist attack although it is worth noting that all terrorist attacks are not carried out by ISIS. It is comforting to know that the territory controlled by ISIS has shrunk by 40 percent and the size of their army by 50 percent, but ongoing international cooperation and vigilance remains necessary in combating this apocalyptic death cult.

Escape rooms

I love it that escape rooms are coming to Cape Girardeau. It sounds like a lot of fun. However, I was wondering if I entered one, could I have the option of staying, even living, in one?

Second Amendment

To stop a bad guy with a hammer, it takes a good guy with a hammer -- or a guy using a loaded handgun as a hammer around children at a school. And he had a permit to carry the hammer -- uh -- handgun. Concealed. Please don't infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens to own and carry hammers -- uh, I mean handguns. We have a Second Amendment right to keep and bear tools without regulation. No matter how stupid we are.

A plant

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Donald Trump is a Democratic plant.

Need to carry

I haven't carried a weapon on a daily basis since I came home from Vietnam. With the onset of spring and summer coming and the daily shootings they bring to Cape Girardeau, I may have to start.

Inner selves

People waste too much time attempting to find their true inner selves. There is no such thing as a true, unified self. To borrow from an article about Confucius, we are multidimensional creatures who need spontaneity and need to often work to rid ourselves of daily routines. All this talk about embracing your inner self is bunk, since we are messy creatures made up of many selves, living in a very messy world. Read Confucious. He knows best!
