PRESIDENT Obama came to Cape Girardeau to visit one of the factories. After he was elected the factory closed; he promised more employment. Now in the last two weeks, major businesses have started closing, losing jobs -- more than 500 in Southeast Missouri. Is this really the man we want to lead us again? President Obama, you have not kept your promise.
I just read the global warming opinion in the Speak Out section. I will tell you what global warming is doing. My home state is Vermont, and it has been devastated, absolutely, by flooding. The ski areas have just about gone bankrupt, the resorts. That is a ruined state.
I just read the Speak Out concerning the congratulations to Dr. Mike Cowan. I'd like to just say kudos, amen, you surely hit the nail on the head. He is the greatest and the hardest working principal or school leader that this area has ever seen in history of recognition. So I'd just like to say I totally agree. Good job.
THE Hall of Famous Missourians is for famous people, and Rush is famous. It's not for being a goody two-shoes. Many of us didn't like what Harry Truman did, but he was a famous Missourian because he was a president of the United States. Rush is pro-life, he spoke out against artificially creating embryos for stem-cell research, and remember Rush is right.
I am an avid bowhunter, I have been bowhunting for more than 10 years. I find it embarrassing and appalling what this city is trying to do. I love the Conservation Department, but in my opinion it can't give you an actual head count of deer, just a guess. It is not an overpopulation, it is just one deer herd. I am going to say this one more time -- it is one deer herd, one big deer herd that is circling in between Old Sprigg Street Road and Cape Rock Drive. The only reason why they want to pass this is so people can go around and shoot these big ol' bucks which are in town, which it's really not hunting because I know from experience that these deer are tame.
IF my potential employer asked me for my Facebook password, I'd have no problem giving it out. I live a decent life. I obey the law. I'm smart enough not to put compromising photos of myself on the Internet. Those job seekers who balk at this request reveal a lot about themselves when they make this an issue.
