School spending

I am so sick and tired of the Cape Girardeau School District begging for money no matter how bad our situation is. Administrators at the time the new high school was built screwed up. No one listened to teachers. They didn't listen to parents. The cafeteria was built too small. Some of the classrooms couldn't be put in, and some rooms were built that are hardly ever used. How many hours day is the dance studio used? The district spends our money like crazy. We have a scoreboard for a field where we don't play football. These kind of expenditures are wasteful. The administration has disappointed me.

Helmets for scooters

I am concerned for the safety of our young people on the road who are allowed to ride those hard-to-see motor scooters without helmets. The law should be changed. If we have helmet laws for motorcycles, then we should have them for the scooters on the road.

Windshield worries

EVERY time I have a car or truck inspected in Missouri I find out that I have to replace a windshield for the tiniest cracks, whether visible by the driver or not. I see other vehicles on the road with Missouri plates that have more than a crack in their windshields. Some are almost impossible to see through. I wonder how they can pass inspections.

All about money

WHERE was Rush Limbaugh during the election? We didn't hear from him supporting the Republicans nearly as much as we hear him bashing the Democrats now. My guess is on election night he jumped for joy. For the last eight years he has been irrelevant. Now he has something to complain about. It is not that the media is deflecting from President Obama. It is that Limbaugh is trying to enthrall the masses. He is not the leader of the Republican Party. He is an entertainer. The more people who listen to him, the more money he makes. Of course he wants attention deflected from Obama to him. It is money in his pocket.

Defend yourself

IT is hard to defend yourself against a madman, whether he's shooting at you below your lift bucket or he's in church shooting at your preacher. Unfortunately, the crazies outnumber the cops and always will. Self-defense is the way to go.

Shopping lessons

WHEN I go shopping and my 3-year-old starts to throw a fit, I still have to do my shopping and make her mind. Why is it that everyone looks at me like I'm the one in the wrong when I'm trying to teach my child right from wrong? My mother and I went shopping at a store, and my mother and another woman got into an argument because my 3-year-old didn't move out of the woman's way fast enough. She was using inappropriate language in front of my daughter. I said she needed to learn some manners. Not one store employee came to see what was going on. I can't believe people have no respect.

Equal prosecution?

KEEPING people in seat belts is impossible. There have been other wrecks where a passenger died while not wearing a seat belt and the driver was not charged.
