Outvoting immigrants

THE REASON voters turned out in such large numbers is because they were trying to offset the thousands of immigrants Clinton and Gore had shipped in to the United States and pressured the INS to give them immediate naturalization in exchange for their vote for Al Gore. They were also trying to elect a man who would bring sanity and decency back to the White House with George W. Bush.

Smells like a rat

IM LISTENING to the big controversy about who is going to be president. Isn't it odd that the governor of the state where the controversy is occurring is a brother to one of the participants running for president. I smell a rat.

Gore's a sore loser

WE SEE now that Al Gore is a sore loser. That's disgraceful. I hope people have better sense than to ever vote for him again. It is such a shame for him to put the American people through what we're having to go through.

Democratic protection

WITH POSSIBLY 50 in the Senate and fewer Republicans in House, if Bush wins there is no way he will get his way with that Social Security, because Congress isn't going to let him. And there is no way is he going to give out school vouchers for private schools because he will have a deadlocked Senate with enough Democrats not to let him do it. Working people, the elderly and the poor can rest assured that there are enough Democrats to protect us in Washington.

Need special prosecutor

SINCE SO much conflict has come up in the Florida election, I think they should appoint a special prosecutor to investigate it like they investigated Clinton. I think they should appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Bush and Florida.

We still have a chance

TO THE caller who says he shudders to think that Bush would be president and have a Republican Congress: We got a little bit of a reprieve. The Senate is going to be tied, so it should stop the shenanigans of tearing up our Social Security. But with fewer Republican congressmen, maybe there is still hope for us, the working poor.

Praying, not plotting

I JUST had to call in and share something that one of my co-workers told me the day after the national election. This co-worker is for the Democratic Party and very proud of his liberal ways. He was sharing a story circulating on the Internet that the difference between Democrats and Republicans is that while we were waiting the outcome of the election Democrats were hoping, plotting and counting votes while Republicans were praying. He though that it was funny. I think what he doesn't realize is that I was really proud to hear that. I would rather be praying than plotting like the Democrats have been doing for the last eight years.

Safe voting advice

I DON'T have a renewed sense of confidence in the Jackson Board of Education. I followed the safe advice. I voted for the bond issue, but I'll be looking to support two brand new board members in April.

Competent voters

I FEEL if the retired people in Florida don't have enough skill to know who they are voting for, that it is not our fault. The election has to stand as it is. When you go to the voting booth, you better know what you are doing. If you don't have the skills, you don't have any business in the booth. I have a child with slight learning disabilities, and I have been encouraging him to vote. I've told him that it is only the one day that you go vote. If you don't have the skills, don't vote.
