What's the difference?

SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC lost an election in Yugoslavia and tried to remain in power. Al Gore lost an election in the United States and fought to stay in power. Can somebody please tell me the difference?

Cats and mice

I AM disappointed in both the Florida Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. I am disappointed that the Florida Supreme Court, after ruling that there was a time limit, decided to go ahead and allow more time to count ballots. I'm disappointed that the Supreme Court didn't make a strong enough ruling the first time around so it wouldn't go any further. What bothers me is that this went to the courts and it's become even a bigger joke that it was before. I hope Al Gore and any other person running in the future doesn't go through the courts again, because to me it is just like a cat-and-mouse game.

That liberal crowd

WELL, AL Gore and Bill Clinton are going to have to answer now for their complicity in trying to commit anarchy through the courts in their attempt to overthrow our constitutional form of government and America's values. That liberal crowd has lost all logic to the fact that ideology will bring them nothing but grief.

A fine column

ON THE Dec. 12 editorial page of the Southeast Missourian there was a column by the superintendent of the Cape Girardeau School District entitled "Schools can nurture spirit of the season in many ways." It was one of the finest articles I have ever read. Our citizens should be very proud of our superintendent.

I'll miss you, Alec

I SURE have to commend Al Gore. He put up a good fight, and I am sorry he lost. But I am sure going to miss Alec Baldwin. A promise is a promise.

Judicial aggression

TALK ABOUT judicial aggression. The decision in Bush vs. Gore makes the decision in Roe vs. Wade look like a model of deference to state's rights.

Blame someone else

I THINK we should let all the Democrats vote again in Florida and have a couple of officials to go in the voting booth to supervise them. I recommend Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. I bet they will still want a recount if they don't like the results. It is just not fair if you lose and are a liberal Democrat. It is the machine, the chads, the counting officials, the poor misguided voters and most of all no-good Republicans.

Go for Gore

THE BEST way to get rid of the Electoral College would be for enough electors to change their minds and change the outcome of the election. It is in that vein that I publicly appeal to the thoughtful, insightful, wise, all-knowing, intelligent, statesmanlike Bush elector Dave Barklage to go for Gore.

Bon voyage, Alec

HOORAY. HOORAY. Alec Baldwin is leaving the country, and good riddance. Please take all your Hollywood cronies with you.

He likes a camera

JESSE JACKSON led a protest. I would like to know what his title is that he can come in with gangs of people. And who pays him to do all this? I figure if you didn't always turn the camera on him he wouldn't appear in so many places.

Misplaced expertise

I WATCHED the spaceship Endeavour land.We can build a spacecraft, but we can't make a ballot situation any better than what we have. It is a sad day.
