A flea market?; Wonderful police; Paper, mail go through; Grateful for crews; You're awesome

A flea market?

I WONDER if a person could rent the parking lot at the new federal building. I'd like to put a flea market there. That looks like about the only good thing it's good for. More of our tax dollars are being thrown out the window.

Wonderful police

I'M A former Cape Girardean who lives in St. Louis. I couldn't reach my elderly aunt and uncle. They wouldn't answer their phone. Your wonderful police department checked on them and took care of their papers so they wouldn't have to get out on the ice. They called me to tell me everything was fine. Kudos to the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Paper, mail go through

KUDOS TO the entire Missourian staff for getting the paper out as usual and getting it delivered on time and closer to my house than usual during this inclement weather. When the rest of the city seems to shut down when there's a little bit of a hiccup, the Missourian plugs on, as did my mail carriers. Kudos for that.

Grateful for crews

I WOULD like to say thanks. I saw an amazing sight: all the electric-company trucks at the Osage Community Centre. I'm so grateful for them and working hard to get our electricity back on. I'm grateful to the Osage Community Centre for keeping its doors open and to whoever's working those long hours. I wish there was something someone could do for the big building next to the health department. I saw a woman out walking who did not have a coat. She had walked a long way. It broke my heart that someone would be out walking in 20-degree temperatures with no coat. It might be good to spearhead a project getting coats for all those in the high rise.

You're awesome

I'D LIKE to thank all the Jackson city crews, help from outside and all the backup support that's made it possible to have our electricity restored within 24 hours of the ice storm. You guys are awesome, and I want to thank the city workers who picked up trash on our regular Thursday morning. They were here as usual. I want to commend you guys and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the hard work you do. God's richest blessings upon you and your families.
