Lack of exercise

I understand that the government now, in all of its infinite wisdom, wants to keep pizza in school lunches and take out potatoes. Most of my generation had plenty of potatoes and all of the ingredients in pizza served to us on a daily basis at school. I would say we have fared about as well as could be expected. We also had a couple of recess periods and a lunch period where there was some physical exercise involved. In grades seven through 12 we had a physical education class where physical exercise was involved. I wonder why they don't address the real problem which, in my humble opinion, is the lack of exercise.

John Boehner

HOUSE Speaker John Boehner needs to be impeached. He has not done one thing to help our country. He is now saying the money that was being used to fight a war that should have never been started can't be used for anything to help the country get people back to work.

Joe Paterno

JOE Paterno did exactly what he was supposed to do as the football coach at Penn State. He reported what had been reported to him. His winning record shows where his mind was and that was on coaching football. He relied on his superiors to take care of what he had reported.

Christ in Christmas

I was watching on TV recently where they were talking about the Christmas tree tax, and they spelled Christmas as Xmas. I don't like that. Christmas is supposed to have Christ's name in it.

TV, life

IT sure is strange how shows on television parallel the events in my life.

Railroad track

WHY is a short strip of the Missouri Pacific Railroad track being maintained in Delta?

Mike Matheny

IT'S not fair to put pressure on new Cardinals manager Mike Matheny by saying he has to win the World Series next year in order to be judged a good pick. I'd say it would be good enough if the Cardinals won the National League pennant.

Cut OSHA

I know a local contractor who just got in trouble with OSHA for what they call infractions on the work site. This guy is working to feed his family, and his employees are doing the same. Government people who know nothing about construction are putting people out of work with their hefty fines. OSHA is the first government agency that should be cut.

Pothole city

THE city needs to do something about Sunny Lane because it is not so sunny under Cape Rock Drive. It is pothole city. Care a little bit about these people and fix their roads.

Jobs bills

MR. President, ladies and gentlemen of Congress, we need a jobs bill. Perhaps we can work in a bipartisan way on this.
