Why don't local school buses have outside cameras? Other cities have them to get license plate numbers of people who don't have sense to stop when bus lights are flashing and the stop sign is displayed. I've seen people whiz on by a bus loading and unloading students, even those carrying special needs students. They go too fast for bus drivers to get plate numbers. There are cameras inside to video bullying problems. We can only hope no students are hit and hurt or even worse, killed, by careless drivers.
Thank you for your wonderful profile of the Chaffee Red Devils football team and coach Charlie Vickery. A number of years ago a non-Chaffee area educator asked me (he knew I was well acquainted with coach Vickery) if I thought he would be well suited to start a football program. I replied that he would be a perfect choice, being not only a great coach but an outstanding teacher and role model for high school students, whether or not they played football. Coach Vickery ultimately chose to return to his hometown of Chaffee, and I'm sure the community is happy he made that choice. What he and his staff and players have done with Chaffee's football program, the high school student body and overall school and community pride is impossible to put into words. Congratulations to coach Vickery and the entire Chaffee community!
It's been awesome to play a small role in "Gone Girl." I can't wait to see it when it comes out to see if I'm actually in it or was cut out. This has been great for Cape Girardeau. Thanks to everyone at the studio and to the mayor and chamber director Mr. Mehner for making it happen here. I love you, David Fincher.
I read about someone who voted for President Obama twice. Then they got their health-care insurance renewal and it had gone up $10,000 in a year. The person said that they had trusted Mr. Obama when he said we would get more for less and be able to keep the same plan. But the cost went up because this person's company had to change the plan to align with the Affordable Care Act. What a joke. A bad, bad joke, which has been dragging down our economy and will continue to drag down our economy.
What a partisan Obama is. He will close down parks and government websites, which cost nothing to keep open, just so he can try to make people angry at Republicans. It actually costs more tax money to close these sites, both physical and digital, than it is to leave them open. How stupid does he think the American people are? Even my liberal friends are admitting this is a stupid tactic on his part. It's also revealing. He's not about what's best for America. That can no longer be doubted.
Why is it we have it drilled into our heads that we are going to run out of money for Social Security benefits but never hear the government say anything about running out of money for welfare?
