If you like rodeo action plus country and rock music, you may want to consider heading to Sikeston next week for the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. If you like rodeo action plus country and rock music, you may want to consider heading to Sikeston next week for the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.

The annual festivities bring out many locals and folks from around Southeast Missouri.

The action begins Wednesday with Day 1 of the rodeo and musical performance by Josh Thompson. Thursday night's music entertainment is Thompson Square. Dustin Lynch will hit the stage on Friday. And Bret Michaels rounds out the week on Saturday night.

The rodeo categories include bareback riding, barrel racing, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and tie-down roping. On Wednesday there also will be bull fighting. Saturday is Pink Out night. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink.

The rodeo parade will begin at 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at the kindergarten on Salcedo Road. The parade route continues to the Depot Museum in downtown Sikeston. Those interested in participating with a float should arrive at the starting location by 9 a.m. There is no cost to enter a float.

Tickets are $20. They may be purchased online at sikestonrodeo.com, at the box office or call 1-800-455-2855.
