For most postal patrons, convenience and time are key components of customer satisfaction. With that in mind, the U.S. Postal Service is looking to expand its services in Cape Girardeau through contracted postal units, a partnership with retailers who offer mail drop-off, stamps and other postal products and services.

The need for more satellite stations has been underscored by the temporary relocation of the Cape Girardeau Post Office to a building on Christine Street where parking is the major complaint.

There already are two satellite stations, one at Kirlin's Hallmark at Westfield Shoppingtown West Park and Carol's Hallmark in Town Plaza on William Street. Each offers customers convenience without having to make another stop or battle the parking situation on Christine Street.

The postal service would like to put a satellite station south of Highway 74 on Sprigg Street and on North Kingshighway somewhere north of Independence Street.

This effort to deliver postal products and services in convenient locations is sure to be welcomed by postal patrons. Retailers have long understood the appeal to customers of convenience and accessibility. This extra effort by the post office will go a long way to offset complaints.
