Making plans to see old bridge being demolished

To the editor:

Congratulation on the new bridge. However, the old one will always be special to me. My father was one of the many who worked on it.

I vaguely remember on opening day walking with my dad several hundred feet out over the mighty Mississippi River. It was a thrilling and frightening adventure for a 7-year-old.

I'm sorry I cannot be there for the opening of the new bridge, but I plan on watching the old one go down.
