To the editor:
One must surely wonder, perhaps even shout,
What on God's earth life is all about.
The presidential scandal, the war in Iraq --
How ever can one handle the stress of such a weight?
With April soon approaching, tax time drawing near,
Now must I fear no food on my plate?
With each passing day revelations are made
Concerning the vices we tend to enjoy.
With a role of the dice we play the game,
Taking the gamble. Our hand we should have stayed.
Increasing in knowledge up there with the best
Where we are rewarded to cheat on the test.
One must surely wonder, perhaps even shout,
What on God's earth life is all about.
Is it war and taxes, what is good and what is not,
About what we have learned, or what we have forgot?
Taking a chance at someone else's expense
By doing things that just don't make sense?
One must surely wonder, perhaps even shout,
What on God's earth life is all about.
