To the editor:

Over the years, Teen Challenge International of Mid-America has developed a reputation as the source for fresh strawberries in Cape Girardeau County. I have so much appreciated the support of those who have bought our berries in the past. That is why I want to offer an apology for the extremely small crop we have this year. I know many people depend on us for home-grown strawberries, and I am sorry we couldn't provide berries for all who wanted them. With our crop down an estimated 80 percent to 90 percent, we simply have not had enough to go around. Of course, the limited crop has been an unexpected blow to our financial situation as well.

We will still have our Strawberry Festival Saturday, though, as you might guess, we will have very few berries for sale. We thank our customers for their patience and support. Rest assured we will do everything we can to have more strawberries available next year and in years to come.
