On Feb. 10 Officers Keith May and Brad Moore were wounded in the line of duty in Cape Girardeau.

Shortly after the shooting, we were deluged with calls from individuals throughout the community and surrounding area offering their help and support. A fund was established to manage the monetary gifts sent to assist the officers with incidental costs while they were recuperating. Cards, flowers, notes and calls inundated the families involved.

Mike Smythe and Brandon Shears along with many of the employees of KFVS-12 set up the Back the Blue campaign to assist with fund raising. The wounded officers as well as other law-enforcement officers have been totally overwhelmed by the emotional support and financial generosity of the entire community and KFVS-12 during this time.
