To the editor:
There was such a nice article in the Southeast Missourian recently on Tres Lewis, who heard that his POW father was coming home around his fifth birthday, a father he had only heard about. There have been several people calling and wanting to know where he is. Tres will be 30 years old March 12. Tres graduated from San Diego State University. He is a Navy airman veteran of Desert Storm, and he is now in the banking business in San Diego.
His father is retired, sells real estate and does substitute teaching.
The Jones and Lewis families have not forgotten the comfort and support that so many people gave us: Gary Rust, who had the Bulletin-Journal at that time, Mike Shain, Ron Wilson of KFVS-TV, Sam Burrage of WPSD-TV, the various churches that had services for Earl Jr. and other men and women of the service. Many people wore POW bracelets and sent cards and letters.
Peggy Scott and others from the Southeast Missourian have written articles from time to time and had them in the paper. The Naval Reserve and VFW Post 3838 had nice receptions for Earl Jr.
The five and a half years Earl was gone was a sad time. When he came home was great, and out of the situation came lots of good memories of wonderful people. Thank you to everyone.
