LETTERS: CLINTON TURNS WOES INTO SHADOWS

A shadow: Something that's not there, something that's not real. When light is placed upon it, it goes away.

Kenneth Starr has been after Bill Clinton like a dog chasing a rabbit. I, like many others, have been amazed by the fact that this rabbit has been able to elude this old dog for so long a time.

I think the answer is in the rabbit's ability to cast shadows. The rabbit has turned every gain the dog has made into a delusive image, a shadow. He has been able to cast shadows every time the dog announced he had a scent of wrongdoing, making each new discovery seem vague, dim and unsubstantial.

True, the rabbit has obviously done some shadowcasting, making him questionable as to his honesty or loyalty, and he appears to be a dubious creature. Still, one must stand in awe of his ability to create a screen in view of everything that has been brought to light. And by intercepting the rays of truth and by casting shadows, he has made the truth look dim in the light of everything else.

Now it seems the dog has the rabbit by the throat and it's just a matter of time for the rabbit's doom. However, I wouldn't run to the kitchen for a plate to put the rabbit on if I were you. He is a master at creating shadows, and a shadow is something that's not there, something that's not real, and when light is placed upon it, it goes away.
