LETTERS: A CHOICE ON SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS

To the editor:

Being citizens of the great United States, you do have a choice come Jan. 2, 1999. Your Social Security check will still be mailed to you, should you want it that way. Or if you desire direct deposit, it will be that way. It's your choice.

With signatures and phone calls, I contacted U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson in May. With her speedy reaction, I helped turn this direct-deposit issue around to where we, the people, have a choice.
