The sound of drums and other percussion instruments will ring throughout the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus on Saturday.
The Department of Music will present the Percussion Ensemble's Family Holiday Concert on Saturday, with performances at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Not only will there be festive music -- according to a press release all songs are kid friendly and includes "Jingle Bells," "Deck the Halls" and more! -- but Southeast's Dancers United and Steel Drum Band will be featured along with Alma Schrader's fourth-grade choir and Dance Extensions Dance Studio.
Singalongs, slideshows, egg shakers and dancers are also part of the performance.
"This year marks the ninth year for this concert, and if you have never been to this concert or taken your child to a concert hall before, this is an excellent opportunity to introduce them to a professional, yet kid friendly, concert experience," Shane Mizicko, professor of music and director of percussion, said in a press release.
He added that the free concert will be "upbeat and exciting that even the most fidgety child would enjoy."
Sounds like an ideal way to spend part of the weekend with your family.
