Tonight's the night for an upscale fund raiser for the Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation.
Individuals willing to pay $100 ($150 for couples) will gather at the Cape Girardeau Country Club to show their support and have a good time.
The question is what other school supporters who missed out on getting tickets for the "All the Right Ingredients" fund raiser are going to do to help their local educational institutions.
The money is primarily bound for the new Central High School, which opened this fall without some of the amenities needed by students, faculty and administrators. Those who have visited Central since it opened in September no doubt came away impressed with its state-of-the-art equipment and thoughtful design of every section.
However, the school needs little things -- like filing cabinets and a director's podium -- and big things -- like scoreboards, concession stands and portable bleachers.
With such a diverse list, even donations made a little at a time can help the foundation fulfill its admirable mission of making all Cape Girardeau schools the showplaces they should be.
