Now that Americans have awakened to the corruption that is in Washington, D.C., our representatives and senators have a chance to do something about our 66,000 page tax code.

The FairTax bill is currently in the U.S. House of Representatives with more than 60 co-signers. This bill would repeal the federal income tax, including: capital gains, all corporate and self-employment taxes, all payroll taxes and estate and gift taxes. In other words, you get to keep 100 percent of your paycheck. You pay when you purchase new goods and services. It does not tax the poor since a prebate of taxes paid, up to the poverty level, is paid to every legal household. This would give the poor not only their complete paycheck but also the prebate every month. Their buying power goes up by more than 30 percent.

I also believe this bill would help with our illegal immigration problem. The prebate only goes to legal citizens. This would be an incentive for illegals to go back and come in the correct way. The bill would also expand the tax base. It taxes all who make purchases -- like drug dealers, illegals, foreign visitors, people who work for cash and, of course, our politicians. I also believe the FairTax system would start to bring the country back together because it treats everyone the same. Politicians would no longer be able to use the tax code to pit one group against another. I urge everyone to go to FairTax.org to learn more.
