To the editor:We were all told several times that the only way to get a road paved in Cape Girardeau County was to have all landowners sign easements. Then, and only then, the road would be put next in line, and it was first-come, first-served. There was no other way...

To the editor:We were all told several times that the only way to get a road paved in Cape Girardeau County was to have all landowners sign easements. Then, and only then, the road would be put next in line, and it was first-come, first-served. There was no other way.

After a cooperative effort, we did this for our section of County Road 525 and were told it would be at least two years before even preparation work would begin. We weren't happy with this, but we would take our turn.

Now I read in the paper that County Road 380 and County Road 607 were scheduled for paving even though all easements had not been signed, and the county commission approved road preparation on a part of County Road 380 without all the easements.

In the past, the commission lacked credibility with county residents. Apparently not much has changed.

All of us on County Road 525 and all other residents who have met the easement requirements want to know why we must wait two years or more while other roads without easements are at the front of the line.
