We attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells on June 28. Following the Independence Day worship service, veterans and widows of veterans spoke of their service for their country in many conflicts over the years.

The chaplain spoke of Christ's death on the cross for all and the many American servicemen who gave their lives to preserve the freedom we enjoy today.

It was inspiring to hear the veterans tell of their experiences and their love of God and country.

We commend the church for honoring all veterans present and hope the church will continue to do so for many years to come.

After the worship service, a fellowship hour with refreshments was held in the dining hall. A table of war memorabilia was on display also.
