The 13th annual Cape Comic Con starts this afternoon and continues through Sunday at the Osage Center in Cape Girardeau.

Comic Con has developed a strong following in Cape Girardeau with more than 100 vendors particpating. There are also games and the popular costume contest, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Kinder Hall inside Cape Girardeau Central High School.

Actor and body builder Lou Ferrigno will appear all three days of the convention as The Incredible Hulk.

Friends of the Parks Day

Also on the docket this weekend is the annual Friends of the Parks Day and Great Cape Cleanup. It starts with registration at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Capaha Park shelter 3. Projects start at 9 a.m. throughout city parks, and volunteers will receive lunch and a free T-shirt as supplies last.

You can register in advance at www.cityofcape.org/friendsofthepark.

So whether you want to see some super heroes at Cape Comic Con or be a hero for our local parks, there are opportunities this weekend.
