Again I chuckle as my competitors claim they're going to "fight" for the 8th District. Do we really want people in leadership who approach problems looking for a fight? Wouldn't it be easier to solve problems by beginning on principle, defining the problem and related limitations, acknowledging the opposing viewpoint and using logic and determination to get a point across?...

I will use guiding principles on decisions in Congress. These questions will come to mind: Is it Constitutional? Is a government solution really necessary? Did those asking for help put themselves in this trouble? If the legislation passes, who benefits? Is there already a law/institution in effect to solve this problem? Is the solution worth risking the financial future of our children?
