Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland hosts a Summer Music Festival to help raise funds for Teen Challenge Internation of Mid-America. The festival starts Friday and will feature artists like Jeremy Verhines with Solomon's Porch, Three Strand Rope from Springfield, Mo., Tyler Montgomery from Dexter, Mo., and Jackson native Doug Rees. Tickets are $10 per person, $8 per person for groups of 10 or more. Children 5 and younger are free. Tickets will be available through the church, Teen Challenge or the church Web site. The Wentworth Gallery, St. Louis
Grace Slick, the 1960s music icon of Jefferson Airplane fame, will be retuning to St. Louis to showcase her art. Her rock 'n' roll attitude and lifestyle is reflected in her art, which includes versions of Alice in Wonderland and music legends such as Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Pete Townshend. Slick's art debuted in the Wentworth Gallery in St. Louis last year and the gallery is bringing pieces back to appease popular demand and inquires.
