Visitors to Ste. Genevieve, Mo., can "meet all the wineries" in Missouri on Saturday in the village of Chaumette.
At the least, the large amount of wineries at the Fete de Chaumette might give people that impression, said Hank Johnson, owner of Chaumette Winery. Chaumette, in south Ste. Genevieve County, is hosting its third annual party from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. where wine lovers can find "many of the threads people are looking for in a wine destination," Johnson said.
Started to celebrate Missouri's growing wine culture and timed to fall near France's Bastille Day, the festival is an excuse to get away, Johnson said.
Chaumette's Grapevine Grill will be serving barbecue all day. Children will be able to participate in activities like turtle racing, kite flying and bobbing for apples.
Elsey Parker will sing French songs and originals, and Ambiance will play contemporary jazz, Motown and R&B music throughout the day.
