I have eaten my fair share of fair food lately, thanks to the SEMO District Fair last week, but I'm happy to announce there is yet another chance to eat, drink and be merry this weekend, in Altenburg at the "Best Little Fair in the Land." But block off your entire Saturday, though, and spend it at Ivers Square in Cape Girardeau for a one-of-a-kind, daylong music festival -- with seven bands and all the food you can handle...

I have eaten my fair share of fair food lately, thanks to the SEMO District Fair last week, but I'm happy to announce there is yet another chance to eat, drink and be merry this weekend, in Altenburg at the "Best Little Fair in the Land."

But block off your entire Saturday, though, and spend it at Ivers Square in Cape Girardeau for a one-of-a-kind, daylong music festival -- with seven bands and all the food you can handle.

I think this weekend will definitely speak for itself, but don't take my word for it:

All the music

The Shipyard Music Festival on Saturday is Cape Girardeau's newest one-day celebration -- 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. -- of seven national touring acts, food and drink vendors all rolled into a unique experience for the entire family.

Ticket holders will have access to the performance area, concessions and interactive brand experiences.

Shuttles will run to and from Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, which will have pickup stops at Broadway and Main, Independence and Main, and at city hall, said Shipyard representative Jamie Phillips.

"We will also be using the Downtown Trolley," Phillips said. "It pretty much stops anywhere it sees you. It has eight official spots, but it will also stop wherever you are."

Southeast Missouri State University students are encouraged to take the River Campus route on the Southeast shuttles, Phillips explained, which makes scheduled stops in front of Rust Center for Media on Broadway, the location of the concert.

There also will be portable toilets, hand-washing stations, a charging station and hydrating stations located throughout the venue, she said.

St. Francis Healthcare is providing filtered water from their on-site mobile hydration station, she said, along with a first aid station offering wellness screenings throughout the day

Food and beverage vendors for the event include Imo's Pizza, Lemonade House Grille, Mary Jane Burgers & Brew, Bistro Saffron, Faithfully Fed, Isle Casino, River Eagle, Kohlfeld Distributing.
