ST. LOUIS -- The R in R&B stands for romance with this Fox Theatre concert.

At 8 p.m. Feb. 8, one of R&B music's popular vocal grounds, The Whispers, come to the Fox Theatre for a concert with Stephanie Mills.

The Whispers come from the old school of R&B, having started back in 1963 with twin brothers and their friends in the Watts section of L.A. and in San Francisco/Oakland area nightclubs.

Mills' career includes time as the opening act for The Isley Brothers and the role of Dorothy in "The Wiz," dumped in favor of Diana Ross before filming began.

She later starred in the acclaimed Broadway version of "The Wiz" instead.
