Salutations to all you music loving mortals. Bow down, and welcome thee with reverence, for I am your new... Zone Insider. You will see a new name under the column title, in other words. The previous writer of The Zone Insider is a little preoccupied with his plans for world domina-- um, he's a little busy with other things, so he tried to find someone as equally insane to take over this column. Unfortunately he failed and you all got landed with me.__First thing you should know: I am totally new at this article writing business. So I really hope I can live up to all of your music article needs. If not this time, it'll be better next time. I will improve, surely, once I get the hang of this. Yay, formal introduction time is over. Onto the good stuff, the reason you are reading this (unless you are bored and are just reading this for the pure entertainment of reading, if you are, well... good for you): Music.__There are a lot of great concerts I am looking forward to during the month of August. Sadly, but not so sad, I happen to have tickets to one of them. On August 13th, EVANESCENCE will be at the UMB Bank Pavilion in Maryland Heights, MO. Other bands at this show include THREE DAYS GRACE, BREAKING BENJAMIN, and SEETHER. So seeing who is playing, I definitely wouldn't put hearing a rendition of `Broken' out of the question. If I am still the Zone Insider next month, expect the details from this concert from me if you're unable to go yourself. See? Good things CAN happen on Friday the 13th. The last Evanescence concert I had (front row) tickets to was canceled. If it gets canceled again... well, I wouldn't blame the day of the concert as being unlucky, that's for sure.
Another great, but rather expensive (for a cashier such as myself... hey, I gotta have a day job...), concert that I'd like to go to is the Projekt Revolution concert, featuring LINKIN PARK, KORN, SNOOP DOG, THE USED, and LESS THAN JAKE. Other bands to join in on the tour are: GHOSTFACE, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND, M.O.P. and DOWNSET. They'll be at the same place as the previous concert I talked about (UMB Bank Pavilion) on August 25th. The tickets cost $42.00 - $46.50 and there is a limit of 8 per person. Sounds like a pretty awesome concert... if ya go, let me know how it went. I will listen and be (very) envious.
Locally, The Zone and Save Yourself Records are throwing an 'Indie Zone Back To School Bash'. It's on August 28th (which is a Saturday) at Camps on Main Street in Cape. Bands featured in this concert are TONE DEF ALL-STARS, FRAGILE PORCELAIN MICE, SQUADCAR, and STEERJOCKEY. Price of admission is $1.07. It starts at 8:30 pm and the only requirement (besides the obvious requirements... we want everyone to wear clothing, after all) is that you have to be 18 to enter. So, even if you don't know who these bands are... at $1.07 you can find out and have fun!
Also, on Friday, August 27th, the Zone is throwing 'The SEMO Block Party'. It starts at 4pm on the SEMO campus. Bands playing at the event will be CATATONIC at 7 pm and CLOSURE at 8pm.
Okay, I am out of my concert advertisement mode... onto CD's...
THE RASMUS - I went to this band's site after hearing their song 'In The Shadows', which was really catchy. Once on their site, I was able to hear some snippets from other songs on their CD entitled 'Dead Letters'... and I really loved them. I think they are awesome, so I thought I'd pass the word on to you. This band isn't really all that new - only in the US. They are from Finland, and have even won several Finnish Grammys, among other awards. Don't expect a concert from them anytime soon though, unless you live across seas. But they are definitely worth checking out.
The Local Spotlight is on DRIvIN' RAIN - For those of you who don't know who these guys are, well, they are a very talented hard-rock group here in Cape. They've been rocking since 1994 and recently released their first official CD that can be bought world-wide. The CD is self-titled. If you're into 80's-90's style hard rock then they are definitely worth checking out. You can listen to and buy their CD at http://www.cafeshops.com/drivinrain.11592875 and also on their website WWW.DRIvINRAIN.NET. To see them live, they will be at Camps in Cape on August 21st. Admission is $5.00 and you have to be 18 to enter.
Other Zone Street Hits - look for us at the following events:
Thursday. August 19th at SEMO for the Student Move In Day.
Friday, August 20th & Saturday, August 21st at Wehrenberg Cape West 14 Cine's special late show for Half-Baked. Starts at 11:30pm.
Sunday, August 22nd at Capaha Park for SEMO's Welcome Back Picnic.
Hope to see you at one of the events listed above!

Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say thanks to Kacia for being my reading guinea pig, you rock... but you already know this. Oh, and thanks to Tabatha at the Zone for helping me out on certain information. Also, hello to all of the others at The Zone. Haven't met you personally, but Leroy says good things, save the whole women's clothing factor ;)
If anyone wants me to review/check out a certain CD or band for this column, or simply has Questions/Comments, feel free to email me at Ruptured_Redemption@Hotmail.com. Or you can go to the message boards on The Zone website listed above. Either way I'll get back to ya. I'd love feedback ;) Until we meet again....

"My best friend recently told me that I was the most passionate person she's ever known. I don't know if that was a compliment or an insult, honestly." Amy Lee, Evanescence
