I heard that there is this tiny little French restaurant on Broadway that has a really good buffet, but you have to have a reservation. I was encouraged to try it by a lot of my friends and co-workers, so I reserved a table for my boyfriend and me and decided to check it out for lunch. I don't really know what foods are "French," but The Rose of Broadway had a really good selection of what seemed to me like home cooked food. I guess home-cooked to me is good, hot food and a glass of ice tea. This very cozy restaurant had a wide selection from stuffed chicken breast to mashed potatoes and gravy. I kind of wanted to try the menu, but the very sweet waitress told us that the kitchen was kind of backed up, so I chose the buffet. Stacks of elegant plates line the wall with the buffet. Crock pots and hot plates with scalloped potatoes and bread pudding, pans full of fresh cooked lasagna, and a platter full of steamy sections of French bread. The mouth-watering aroma reminded me of a family get-together as I piled corn on top of mashed potatoes. As I came back to my little table, a glass of tea awaits me. Sweet tea to be exact. When I sat down, I noticed for the first time that there is a vase with two fresh flowers, lilies I think, sitting at the edge of our table. I sampled the various potatoes and steamed vegetables, but my favorite dish was the stuffed chicken breast. It was tender enough to cut a bite with your fork. Cheese and broccoli inside and very tasty seasoning on the outside. They also had some sweets for dessert: cinnamon rolls, pastries, and diced fresh fruit. By the time we left, my appetite was definitely satisfied. For the most part, it was a nice hot meal in an intimate setting. The two of us tried all that we cared and spent about $12.
