The Rev'n Rods & Heartland Music Tour will make a stop Tuesday at the Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. The event will run from noon to later in the evening, and will feature a car show and concerts by country-music artists James Otto and Terri Clark.

Presented by Chevrolet Performance, the local event is part of a six-day tour that will kick off Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee, and also will go through Southaven, Mississippi; Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Bean Blossom, Indiana; before ending its July 22 in Indianapolis.

The tour encourages hot-rod owners to tag along for the ride, whether it's for only one stop or the entire trip. Registration can be completed at www.RevnTour.com and also includes two concert tickets per vehicle for each registered night. Each car show also will feature vendors, exhibits, food and beverages.

The stop in Cape Girardeau will not be Clark's first visit to Southeast Missouri. The singer -- known for hits including "When Boy Meets Girl," "Girls Lie Too," "I Just Wanna Be Mad" and "The World Needs a Drink" -- said in an email she finds the area gorgeous and the fans always fun. Asked what she has in store for fans this time, she said, "Lots of energy and fun. The songs people want to hear, and a few surprises along the way. And always a little humor as well."

The performer said she does not see this tour as any different from a regular music tour.

"I love to play," she said. "Big or small crowds -- it's what I was put here to do. To bring a smile to some faces for a while and connect through music."

Her opening act for this concert will be Otto, with whom Clark has shared the stage in Texas and a few Grand Ole Opry performances.

"He's a great talent and always delivers -- whether with a band or strictly solo by himself," Clark said. Some of Otto's songs include "Just Got Started Lovin' You," "Groovy Little Summer Song" and "These are the Good Ole Days."

Otto not only will serve as nightly host and performer on the tour, but also will lead the parade of hot rods as grand marshal in his grandfather's '66 Chevy C-10 classic truck.

"This is one of my favorite tours to be a part of; I'm a major hot-rod guy," Otto said. "And I'm playing every show, which I'm very excited about."

Otto said he grew up around his Grandpa Pete's pickup truck and always wanted to inherit it, but with other people in line, he never expected to own it -- until his grandfather called him one day.

"He took me out to the old barn and opened up the door and said, 'I want to give this to you. I want you to do whatever you want with it.' I really was stunned and excited," Otto said.

He added he wanted to do something special with the truck to honor his grandfather, who died during Otto's project to transform the vehicle and only got to see it two-thirds finished.

"He got some photos and was told we were doing something with it," Otto said.

The Rev'n Rods & Heartland Music Tour marks the first time Otto has the chance to take his hot rod on tour.

"It's a chance to mix my passions," he said. "Music and cars have always been something I love ... and they go perfectly together for me."

The car show is free to spectators from noon to 6 p.m. Nightly concerts will take the stage at 6 p.m. Concert tickets are $25 and are available at www.RevnTour.com. Tickets also will be sold at the door the day of the event.
