The Three Stooges might be Larry, Curly and Moe, but Jackson's Stooges are Ted, Ron and Judy.

The three own Stooges in Jackson, a smoke-free, family restaurant complete with weekly music and daily Three Stooges movies on the television.

Ted Clark and his wife, Judy, chose the theme because they are huge fans of the Stooges. Ted and Judy Clark share ownership with Ron Cook.

The restaurant theme and name might be comedic, but providing customers quality service with a pleasant ambience is no laughing matter for the trio.

"We strive to offer our customers a family-type atmosphere and a smoke-free environment," Ted Clark said. He also said since the restaurant has gone smoke free he has seen an increase in the number families dining at Stooges.

They have tried to entice families further with specials like children eat free Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Stooges offers a varied menu including sandwiches, salads and plate specials. Two unusual items are the bologna burger and hog wings. The bologna burger is a hamburger patty topped with a piece of bologna.

The hog wings -- read it again, that's hog not hot -- are actually the fried shank of a pig. All this barnyard fare is joined by a few catfish dishes.

"Our customers tell us that we have the best catfish anywhere in the area," Clark said.

Stooges purchases all of its meat locally to ensure freshness.

Customer service is not limited to dining in. Stooges also offers catering. The catering menu includes any item on the main menu or a separate menu is available.

On Thursdays guests can sit back to the musical stylings of Doug Rees. During Cape Girardeau's Tunes at Twilight series, people can get a sneak peek at Friday's artist when they join Rees for a few songs each Thursday.

Stooges is open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
