Kathryn Alfisi joined the Southeast Missourian's staff as Arts & Leisure editor on Feb. 26 and will be covering the local arts scene and area leisure-time pursuits.
Alfisi previously worked as a general assignment reporter at the Daily Record newspaper in Canon City, Colo., and received a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
She grew up in Monument, Colo., and received her undergraduate degree in English from Sweet Briar College. After graduation she moved to northern Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C., where she lived for several years before heading to Chicago to attend graduate school.
As of last week, Alfisi has been a resident of Cape Girardeau, where she lives with her dog.
Alfisi replaces Sam Blackwell, who is now the Southeast Missourian's managing editor.
