SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo takes over the town on Wednesday with an opening night performance by Little Big Town.

Over the course of four days, rodeo goers will see popular sports like bareback riding, bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling and more. After the animal action, some big names take the stage each night to cap the excitement with a few hits.

On Aug. 7, .38 Special will rock the grand stands. Gary Allan is scheduled for Aug. 8, and Jason Aldean finishes the four-day event Aug. 9.

This ain't the Jaycee's first rodeo. They've been organizing the event for more than 50 years and have plenty other activities planned. Among them are the Rodeo Pageant and the Community Cowboy Cookoff Contest on Saturday at the Clinton Building, Sikeston Complex.
