POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Rodney Carrington Show at the Black River Coliseum Saturday night was a big success.

"This is the closest we have been to a sellout," coliseum director Jason Davenport said. "We sold 2,500 tickets and only had 50 scattered single seats remaining. It is considered a sellout in the thinking of most people."

Davenport explained the stage was set up in the middle of the floor so more people could be as close as possible to the performer.

While parking was reduced due to the carnival, there was still sufficient space for those attending Carrington's show, according to Davenport.

The next concert will be performed by a Christian group, Casting Crowns, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 19.

"These tickets are flying out fast," Davenport said. "We are anticipating a large crowd."

Ticket prices range from $19 to $39. Church groups who purchase 15 or more advance tickets receive two free tickets.

Davenport announced Monday that ticket sales will begin at 4 p.m. Friday for the Ratt and White Snake concert at 7 p.m. Monday, June 29.

"These are two older rock bands," Davenport said.

"Promise To Burn," a Cape Girardeau band, will open the concert. Tickets range from $27.50 to $45.
